Mom oh Mom

I really am grateful receiving this from a good friend...neeza.
Thanks...
I am not that good as a mom...and my blog is not that entertaining.... anyway thanks dear...

Yup..I'm a mom... a not-that-great mom. I am proud being a mom...
As we are in this topic... I would like to share some story, and views...

When I was in medical school...if people ask..when do u want to get married?...I don't answer... I was a bit insecure...the ugly ol' me...I don't think anyone would fall for me...hence marrying me... I was a bit sceptical..
But deep down..well..i think the best age should be before i turn 25 (shhh...I just kept this thought to myself ok..at that time).
And I hope that I have my first child by the age of 25, and another after 3 years, and another the next 3 years. Anyway, that's just a thought... I never thought that it ever will become a reality. Yeah..me at that time is not that feminine...rarely wear my 'baju kurung'... never ever thinking of having a relationship..so on and so forth....
But God's will...when I was 21...my Mr AB came into my life... he proposed... and my father gave him a condition..wait until I finish my study.
So...we got married when I was 24 (got that wish right- get marry before 25)
Pregnant with Umar a month later...and he was born on March 2002 (first child when I was 25)
Laiqa was born exactly 3 years later (the spacing was right too...a child after 3years)
And now...pregnant again and Laiqa will get another sibling when she's 3.

I'm enjoying my life as a mom very much. I teach them at home. I even thinking of home-schooling them, but have to put it off, since afraid that they won't know how to interact with people if they keep staying at home.
When they were babies, yup...I successfully breastfed them, exclusively.
I cook for them as often as I can.

And I really, truly enjoying everything about them...
Yup...I get mad...many times, especially with Umar naughtiness and Laiqa's stuborness...but my love for them have never lessen...the love gets more and more each day....

But a bit to be disappoint with them is that, whenever people ask...who's daughter/son u r? They will answer, 'papa's daughter/son'. You know what...the 'mama' is the one who have been taking care of them each day...and they still be the daddy's kid.
Anyway...I know, whenever they are having difficulties....it's mama who they turn too. If they have nightmares, they will call out to mama....If they fall down, it's mama who first come to aid... If they have any enquiries, they ask mama...
But, why, oh, why, the 'papa' always get the popular vote...:):)

Anyway AB, I don't mind. Because u too have done a great job with them...

Last note...i want to forward this TOP MOM BLOG to the lovely and sure is a great mom with a great blog---- Cat Cat

How To Be A Great Dad

I was bloghopping (that's what I do if I go somewhere that have no decent kitchen- a microwave oven and a fridge do not make a kitchen-THE KITCHEN :)), and I found yet another interesting entry.
This is dedicated to all fathers or father-to-be or even the single men out there (who knows u might be a father one day.) In short, this is for all men, a father or not(yet) :)
This entry comes from Zen Habits
(You can read the complete article there).

1. Put their interests first, always.

2. Protect them. As a dad, one of your main roles is protector. There are many ways you need to do this. Safety is one: child-proof your home, teach them good safety habits, set a good example by using your seatbelt, make sure they use a car seat if below a certain age & weight, etc. But financial protection is also important: have life insurance, car insurance, an emergency fund, a will.

3. Spend your spare time with them. When we get home from work, often we’re tired and just want to relax. But this is the only time we have with them during the weekdays, often, and you shouldn’t waste it. While work may be your passion, it won’t be long before they’re grown and no longer want to spend time with you. Take advantage of these years.

4. Give them hugs.

5. Play with them.

6. Do the “mom” stuff. Things that are traditionally considered “mom” duties are not just for moms anymore — changing diapers, feeding, bathing, rocking them to sleep in the middle of the night.

7. Read to them.

8. Stand by mom.

9. Teach them self-esteem. Show them (not telling them) that you value them, by spending time with them, by talking and listening to them, by praising things they do, by teaching them (not telling them) how to be competent.

10. Teach them about finances. From an early age, you can teach them the value of money, how to save money to reach a goal, and later, how earn money and how to manage money properly.

11. Be good to yourself. You shouldn’t give up your entire life when you become a dad. Also take care of your health — eat healthy, exercise.

12. Be good to the mom. This isn’t the same as No. 8 — you should be good to their mom even when they’re not looking. Take her to dinner, give her a massage, do chores around the house for her, give her some time alone and babysit while she goes out, show affection to her, give her little surprises. Because when mom’s happy, the kids are happy. And dad will be happy too!

p/s many thanks to my hubby.
Ab, u already been doing all of it.

I am sure, both of them wanted to thank their daddy too...

Am I A Good Mum???

Yesterday was my lazy day. Have lots of things to do, until I don't know which one I should do first. I tried starting my chores by mopping the kitchen floor, only to be 'dirty' again in just a few minutes after I have done. I hate the kitchen. The floor is sticky, smudges everywhere, eventhough I cleaned it daily... and the one (or rather the two) that are guilty as charges...are of course my two kids.
Why are this two small kids always knock on their glasses (they spill their drinks at least 5 times a day).
Why are they always moving around all day and still be energetic by night.
Everyday I hope they sleep early, so that i would have time for myself, to read novel (my long lost hobby), to at least clean the house, or just watch TV.
My boy, he's better now, I always send him to bed by 10pm, eventhough with much argument (he is very talkative and have way with words).
But this small little girl, my baby, I have trouble getting her to sleep. Last night she only dozed off by midnight, regardless of me keeping the room dark. May be small kids have better eye sight in the dark. :)
I am a bad-tempered person, but since I have kids, I learnt to be patience, lots of patience. But sometimes I do blurted out, and felt guilty afterwards.

Anyway, as they sleep, all the tension, depression, exhaustion and even guilt, flies away. They look so peaceful, so innocent, so serene.
I can spent hours looking at them, tears running down my cheek sometimes, as I felt guilty if the day ended without me teaching them new things, without me being a good mother.
And I pray every night, that ALLAH give me the strengh to be a perfect mum and a perfect wife. Amin.
