Green Fingers, Red Fingers......

I'm sure most of us are very familiar with the term 'green fingers'...which I am not.

Anyway...just wanna share what I have in my garden. It is a small garden, not many things can be planted, so, I opt for the useful plants.
These plants are the one that was initially planted at my back garden, but since we're in the process to move to KL soon, I replanted them in pots to bring to KL. I just choose a few that I use a lot, since we rent a small apartment in KL, so couldn't bring all of them.

The 'infamous' curry leaves...

Oooo...it's the 'Pandan' leaves.

'Kucai'...hmmm...anybody knows what we called this in English? Chives?

This is my beloved bird's eye chillies...have to leave this one... I didn't plant this. It grows on its own. Must be from the bird's droppings..:)

Always need this 'daun kesum' for my 'laksa' and 'asam pedas'. BTW, did u notice the lemongrass at the back (right) and aloe vera ( this is very useful for minor burns, etc).

Turmeric.

Kaffir lime (limau purut), I have to leave this too..it's quite huge. I planted it in a huge pot.

Lime tree. (also have to leave this)

I need help for this one. This is one of my 'ulam' plant. Have been planting and eating this like forever. Even my mum is not sure what's the name. The only thing that she said that, it's better to eat it in odd numbers everyday. That's what my sis-in-law said too.
Anybody knows? How about you Shook? You must be familiar with all kind of 'ulam'. :):)

drNO, i really love you!! hehehe.. jgn salah paham. I love trees especially ulam ulaman. I wish I could plant all of them here. Curry leaves ada kat sini. penting tu. kalau tidak tak sedap kari. Daun pandan takde. nak buat nasi lemak susah sangat. balik cuti nanti, kena cari kot and tanam. hopefully hidup la. daun tu rasanya orang panggil sireh cina. tak tahulah nape sebab tak rupa sireh pun. lagi satu, cina makan sireh ke? hehehee...

Noi, bnyknya koleksi ulam. Great effort.. Pokok tu seakan2 pucuk putat probably putat kampung (Baringtonia racemosa) sbb pokoknya kecil...putat selalunya pokok besar.. Bnyk jenis putat - putat kecil, putat hutan and putat kampung..I pernah mkn pucuk tu but I need to double check ....I rasa putat...may be org lain ada pandangan lain...

Laa..nak pindah KL dah..tak dapatlah kita dating kat Ipoh. Anyway, mungkin jodoh kita kat KL nanti he he.. I planted some bunga kertas when I was pregnant last year..but now that I've delivered and the baby had grown big, the plants died.Blame the hot Ipoh sun and the laziness..he he..

neeza- sebenarnya my Mr AB mmg suka mkn ulam tiap kali mkn nasi. so, kat rmh Ipoh ni mmg ada la tanam ulam raja, selom, pegaga, etc kat belakang rmh.
tp semua tu terpaksa la tinggal...
mmg susah kalau xde pokok2 semua tu kat keliling rmh, sbb kdg2 tgh2 msk baru tercari2 serai la, daun kunyit la.

drNO said...

shook- may be la tu. I have no idea what it is. tp daun tu x pahit la...yg pahit2, i x mkn...hehhehe...

idham- I never consider myself with 'greenfingers'. My mum is...semua yg dia tanam mesti subur.
mine- pure luck, tanam n tinggalkan, bila ada mood, siram la, bila teringat nk ltk baja, ltk baja. my Mr. AB langsung x minat pokok2 ni.

well, rent an apartment in melawati. tp x tahu lg bila nk pindah... luvvv ipoh... syg nk tinggal this big house for a small apartmen...huaauhhh...

ok...thanks...

Wish I have all this plants in my deck. Someone gave me a pokok pandan but it didn't survived and I don't mind having the limau purut and tumeric plant for my rendang. Sini limau purut cost over $40 a pound. Mahal kan!!

drNO said...

AB- how about you?? u've been eating all that all this while, without knowing what u'r eating...:):)
yup...i planted those 'ulam' for u, since u have to have ulam during meal...not like me...heheh...
p/s- AB- thanks for the delicious meal while u r at home :)

ICook4Fun- most of this doesn't suit the weather there. yup that is expensive...
but when the urge of malaysian food come...wouldn't mind spending some money for it...right?

princessjournals- can't imagine la kat sana. mesti missed those stuff from here.
tp my pokok limau kasturi tu x bbuah2 pun lagi

flush- nanti if kitorg dah tahu bila nk pindah, boleh la dtg angkut limau purut tu. x la besar sgt, sbb dah cantas2 'pruning'. dah 6thn tanam tu.
